Description
This is one of a series of 3 paintings created for an exhibition in Saint-Tropez. The title is “Carré, posé, au calme”. It’s a reinterpretation of Matisse’s “Luxe calme et volupté”.
Indeed, Matisse visited Saint-Tropez many times and painted this picture on the spot. It’s one of his far works, and also the origin of the Fauvist movement. Carré, posé au calme is therefore both a tribute to Matisse and to the town of Saint-Tropez.
