Paul Ogunlesi

Paul Ogunlesi is a Nigerian painter whose works have been exhibited internationally. Ogunlesi takes a different approach to portraiture, challenging his audience with the use of truncated and disconcerting compositions. Inspired by life, Yoruba adages, faith, the everyday, the trivial and past experiences, his works echo the singularities of our individual experiences, offering the viewer multi-layered frames into which to dive. Throughout his projects, Paul tackles a variety of themes while maintaining a unique, colorful style, where the viewer soon becomes the off-screen protagonist in a scene left up to him to interpret. "My works are descriptions of known souls that are locked up inside each and every one of us".
